We’re heading into Spring Semester at WTAMU and back to CMC activities. The Canyon Missional Community team has hit the ground running as the Lord continues to open up new ministry opportunities with new relationships. Here are a few “holy” highlights.
MONDAY NIGHT SERVICES
We have had three Monday night CMC worship services this September. The Lord has provided an amazing leadership team of adults, young professionals, and college students to form this little community. As we eat, we share testimonies. After testimonies, we worship in song and ten move into intergenerational Bible studies called DBS (Discover Bible Studies) where, each time, a different member leads the discussion. This equips us to make disciples.
GOSPEL BRUNCHES
The new Sad Monkey Mercantile store on the edge of Palo Duro Canyon approached us last summer saying they had been praying for a Christian group to help them put on a “good ol’ Gospel Brunch” in their event hall (like Gruene Hall in New Braunfels, TX). We kicked off the first one on Sunday, August 1,3 and over 120 people from all around came and ate home cookin’ and clapped along with Andy Chase and Friends. People came from all spaces and places from campers in the Canyon to visitors from Nazareth, Tulia, Wayside, and of course, Canyon and Amarillo. College intern Jack Price opened with prayer and Kim Talley shared a short Gospel message. This is an outreach ministry that CMC helps with as our team does the parking lot welcome and front door greetings, and we help set up and clean up. With the success of these brunches, we have continued to hold one almost every month for the past year. The next Gospel Brunch will be the “Spring Has Sprung” brunch on March 23rd at 12:30 to welcome in the new season.
